Reflections: Margo Chase

I found it interesting that Margo Chase decided to change career paths from being a veterinarian to a graphic designer. She found something that she was passionate about and had the guts to peruse it. Watching someone who obviously loves what they do is envious to me.

Margo began in design before computers were main stream. A lot of her techniques still originate on the sketch pad. She is very interested in text and has created several full alphabets in original new fonts.

Margo has also been given the opportunity to create album art for mainstream and aspiring young artists. I believe this particular aspect of design, which involves marrying a visual concept to an audio work of art would be especially rewarding.

I have a marketing background, and watching the amount of research that goes into each design concept before drafting was intriguing to me. Knowing that your design will be the first and often times lasting impression of the company you are representing is a responsibility that is not taken lightly. In the example that Margo used of a fragrance bottle, it may sit on your dresser and be something that you see on a daily basis for decades.
